Queenstown Interiors director Julia Foley revels in her full-service interior design business being based in the heart of New Zealand’s premier tourism resort.

This cosmopolitan resort attracts visitors, residents and investors from all around the globe, and Julia says the striking Central Otago landscape with its towering mountains, crystal clear lakes and stunning fauna and flora has a great influence on her work.

Julia previously worked in the advertising industry, but then decided on a career and lifestyle change.

“I’ve always had a flair for colour and design and in the past my husband and I had built and furnished our own properties, so I knew it was something I really enjoyed,” she says.

“My first ‘turnkey’ project was for an overseas client and it was a real success.”

Since then, Julia has continued to work on the interior design of a wide range of projects enjoying the challenge of working with the expectations and requirements of a wide variety of clients.

The full fitout service covers every aspect of furnishing a home, from furniture to art and beyond.

“Each and every property is different and so are the clients, their tastes and requirements. I’ve worked with locals, New Zealanders from around the country and overseas clients, moulding my work to their lifestyle and tastes, although I admit to being passionate about the Central Otago landscape because it provides a wonderful background for interior design whether contemporary or classic.

“I love the feeling you get when a client walks into their fully furnished apartment for the first time and you see the reaction. It’s an amazing feeling.”
